Submission zone

A few important things to note
AfJEM is signed up to the ICMJE's uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals and the principles set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).  Manuscripts submitted to AfJEM are checked for plagiarism with iThenticate software.  Similarity reports are interpreted on a case by case basis but in general a similarity score of more than 20% is not acceptable.

Submit a paper for peer review
So you have written a stunning original research article, review of the literature or case report and you want to submit?  Fantastic, we can't wait to send your paper for peer review.  You should know that we take on average 5 weeks from submission to first decision.  That is pretty quick by industry standards.  Please read our easy guidance for authors prior to submitting to avoid delays entering the review process. If you run into trouble during your submission on Editorial Manager please follow this link to the help page.

Guidance for authors
Before you start your submission you should probably have a look at our easy to follow, though comprehensive guidance for author.  There are also further author resources in our Author zone (free resources to help you become a better writer, free plagiarism checker, reporting checklists, consent forms, etc.).

Author Assist
AfJEM is dedicated to supporting all authors who wish to make an attempt at publication on an African emergency care topic. Perhaps you are just starting out and need some guidance, or wish to translate a poster into a full paper.  In order to maintain and produce a high quality, international standard emergency medicine journal, AfJEM has devised Author Assist. AfJEM uses a team of experienced volunteers (Author Assistants) to help improve the quality of manuscripts before peer-review submission.
