Supadel is a unique initiative of the African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM) that sponsors the attendance of delegates from low and middle income countries at AFEM-affiliated conferences on African soil. The program has been operational for eight years, and in this time has allowed numerous Emergency Care professionals to attend high quality acute care conferences throughout the continent.
To date Supadel has channeleled a whopping ZAR 1.9 million ($140,000) of sponsorship to 206 delegates from a total of 598 peers since 2009.

FAQS:
  1. Why should I give? Emergencies occur everywhere, and affect everyone, but the burden of injury and acute disease lies disproportionally on low- and middle-income countries. As an organisation committed to addressing the need for systems development and training across Africa, and particularly in resource-poor areas, it is one of AFEM's top priorities to ensure access to the best information and opportunities for all African stakeholders in acute and emergency medicine development, regardless of their ability to pay. Without Supadel, numerous delegates from conferences past would have missed out on access to valuable resources for furthering their practice and advancing emergency care development in their region.
  2. How much should I give?  It's amazing to receive a donation to support a candidate's complete participation, but smaller donations (20, 50, 100 in your native currency) are more common, and just as welcome. And we always have more qualified applicants than can be supported.  If you are feeling particularly generous the conference organisers can tell you the exact cost of a full sponsorship of one person, including accommodation and registration.
  3. I am a US citizen, or am donating from a US based bank account.  Donate through Crowdrise. Donations are 501(c)(3) tax-exempt through our partner organization, the American Friends of AFEM.
  4. I am a UK citizen, or am donating from a UK based bank account.  Donate through GivenGain.
  5. Donations from anywhere else are best done through Crowdrise.
